Bintulu adventure

Hello from Bintulu! It is one of the rare weekend day off I am having. Despite the tireness tagging overnight every other day for the past one week, it is blissful to chill around today, drive along the beach side, shadowed by the canopy, accompanied by scenic skyline with some gulls by the road side.

Yup, this is Bintulu :)

Ernest and I are pretty much settled down after putting a few nights in hotel while looking for rooms around. By the grace of God, we managed to find 2 vacant rooms in a bangalow staying with a granny. Though the rooms' size are relatively smaller compared to my previous room, but I am thankful for a reasonable price despite the sky high house value here. On top of that, this is the biggest house I'd ever stayed!

Work per se, Bintulu Hospital is surprisingly quite big as a district hospital. Workload is manageable with more personal time. I am placed in O&G department thankfully while Ernest is posted to Surgery department. Stressful and anxious undoubtedly, but performing my own caesareans, extended tear repair etc. Of course when one is still new and slow in action with a not-so-nice end product, the involving staff would give you that kinda stare with hurtful comments. Oh well, I may be slow, but I am picking up okay!

Here is where we put up the first 4 nights upon touching ground, Jinhold apartment. Good service, nice food, cozy stay!

Fear factor

Sago worm aka Rhynchophorus ferrugineus is one of the Sarawak delicacies. It's life cycle takes about 7 to 10 weeks metathesizes from larva to a cocoon built of dry palm fibres and then, a beetle.

So now, let's look at what Tek Jee has brought us from Saratok, still lively crawling.

New hairdo

It's my second hair perming after the first one at the age of eight. Did on my sleeping day with my head nodding away during the whole 2.5 hours.

Day 3 post-perming, hair management is so far time consuming and tedious. Anyway, I like the change though.

Oh I haven't been combing my hair for 3 days!

Another year wiser

It was my post-night sleeping day. Undoubtedly I spent half of my day sleeping. Midway through I got woken up by Ernest, then groggily had my birthday treat in Station 1, Hills accompanied by the jazz band made up of a saxaphone and acoustic guitar.

It is my last few days stay in Kuching. Gai had greeted and reminded me on how we used to meet in our toughest first posting in Paeds, munching waffle for lunch in the little playground next to nursery. Oh those tough days... Time really flies. While emotionally reminiscing how God's grace had brought me through these years, the remaining days seem extra precious. For sure I will miss the warmth and the people here. The church, my colleagues whom I have gone through all thick and thin with, and the skyline.

Lastly, dinner with churchmates and my yoghurt cheese cake. I had an enjoyable one.

This year's birthday wish is not more than to be a competent doctor that adds glory to God.

Precious Jesus, I thank You for what I have got. There are things I may not comprehend and days that are tough in my eyes. Still, Your strength brought me through it all. Nonetheless, thank you guys for making my day, showering me with all greetings and blessings, time and effort in whatever way.

It's November

Hello November!

Yoohoo~ It has reached the month I like. Partly because I was a November baby. But most of all, it approaches the year end and the atmosphere of Christmasy and New Year preparations are in the air!

Had a wonderful post-night brunch with my post-night colleagues in a posh dim-sum place. Guess what, instead of playing the typical chinese style gu zheng or er hu background accompany they started playing Christmas carols with a Christmas tree blinking at the entrance to welcome us.

And this month will mark another new chapter of my life. Disappointedly, not a chapter of marriage! :p

I am completing my housemanship, thankfully! Ernest and I will be next stationed at Bintulu Hospital for a year or so effective from 16th Nov. He wants to do Orthopaedics while I prefer Obs & Gyn posting. Still praying along as we are not sure where will we be placed till the day of reporting.

It comes with mixed feelings of excitement and nervousness. Exciting to start a new life, biding the slavery housemanship goodbye, while nervous for the incompetency and the responsibilities a MO bears.
