I learned...

It's good to have emotion towards what we do but it shouldn't reach an extend where it impairs our works or daily activities.

Thank God for this new day. Isn't life interesting?

Happy winter solstice festival people! Can't wait for my glutinous rice ball... ^^

She needs space

In her late twenties, she came to the Gynaecology clinic with a few complaints. She is married with 2 children, the youngest being 5-year-old and unable to conceive there after. Her menstruation was irregular but heavy. She complained of something coming down through her coital passage. After detail history, physical examination and relevant investigations, she was diagnosed polycystic ovarian syndrome and reducible second degree uterovaginal prolapse with retroverted uterus and cervical elongation. (For the benefit of the non-medical personnel, it means the prolapse of part of the genital tract just enough to block the vagina passage.)

Doctor explained to her regarding her conditions and the available treatment options, including surgical treatment of cervical shortening. Out of which she was advised only for conservative treatments such as weight reduction, pelvic floor muscle exercise and to minimize straining. The patient didn't seem to be satisfied and repeatedly questioned the doctor of the ways to get rid of the prolapse. She started tearing and expressed how this problem had interfered her sexual intercourse and the relationship with her husband. She couldn't meet her husband's pleasure.

Things must have been bothering enough for a woman to tear in front of public (9 medical students, a doctor and a staff nurse). Her major concern wasn't how to get pregnant or why is she menstruating abnormally but how to restore the husband and wife relationship.

Bearing in mind that the conservative treatments take time and the efficiency is very much less than that of surgical intervention, I would want to sign her for cervical shortening and simultaneously advise her for the above mentioned modifications to reduce the risk of recurrence. My idea got rejected by the doctor, I felt helpless.

She needs a space, in her vagina just enough for sexual intercourse. She needs a space in her husband's heart. She needs a little more consideration.

Undoubtedly, sex is an important act to a marriage. But why should it comes to take a place in causing marital disharmony? Isn't love supposed to be greater? Why are women always the ones silly enough to consider for everyone else except for themselves?

Perhaps I am not being realistic enough. Or I am just too emotional...

I regretted of not going after the patient to talk to her more. She must have stepped out of the consultation room feeling more miserable than she just stepped in.

Sincerely, hope things are fine with her.

A great mum was borned on this day

Dedicate to my dearest mummy, Madam Wong Ngoh Ying...
A beautiful woman smiles in troubles,
gathers strength from distress,
grows brave by reflection.

I see how beautiful my mum is.
Happy birthday mummy!
I am so proud to be your daughter.
We all love you!

A dumb day resolved

It spoilt my day when I started it by waking up late. Again, I stayed up, doing unnecessary stuff the night before. Ended up slept with books by my side. It wasn't hardworking when I wasted my weekends away and trying to compensate.

When things didn't go my way, when ward work wasn't efficient, when I was chased out from clinic, when I dozed off in class till I failed to reach a doctor after multiple attempts... Everything seemed just dumb! And exam is really near, when can I be more aggressive?!

Allow me to rant... This day has ended pretty beautiful anyway.

Thank God for the bunch of good friends surrounding me. When I think I would feel better on my own, it is your laughters that cheer me up. When I am stressed questioning my competency, it is your encouragements that keep me going.

Thank you friends. We must get through, together!

That little organ

One little organ, as big as a fist.
Oh how great, as it shelters fetus.
It bleeds monthly, and contracts badly.
Oh how joyous, as it grows a person.
A woman's joy, but it brings pain.
Hollow little organ, uterus by its name.
That little organ, wonderful creation.

P/S: Just found the pantie interesting, not mine by the way. Haha.

Our very last Diwali Night

I reported a complete Diwali Night last year, the best one I'd ever have. For our very last Diwali Night which fell on 4th Dec. 08, here are some random shots.

Azi, my pretty housemate, nearly pass her by without recognition.
Ushers alert!On eating break...
The only Sem 9 performance. The climax of the day not more than appearance of Prof. Harwant.Last but not least, a group snap.
My sincere thanks to Raju, the best dancing partner, ever! For your effort and fun that are worth to be put into all time remembrance. Thank you, it was an honour being able to work with you too!

It wasn't as enjoyable as it used to be. I know the factor of STRESS has definately contributed a whole lot. The past one week hasn't been a good one for me. Skipping oncalls, didn't cover beds, not reading up, got scolded... I just didn't play my part!

It's time to get back on my toes. Gynae is fun, by the way!
